Why are Americans so worked up about health attention reform? Statements such as “don’t touch my Medicare” or “everyone should have access to state of the art health attention irrespective of cost” are in my belief uninformed and visceral responses that indicate a poor understanding of our health attention system’s history, its contemporary and prospect resources and the funding challenges that America faces going forward. While we all wonder how the health attention system has reached what some refer to as a crisis stage. Let’s try to capture some of the emotion outside of the debate by briefly examining how health attention in this nation emerged and how that has formed our thinking and culture about health attention. With that as a foundation let’s gaze at the pros and cons of the Obama administration health attention reform proposals and let’s gaze at the concepts place forth by the Republicans?
